Installing & maintenance

The proper installation and regular maintenance of an onsite waste water system is important for its efficient operation. Installation and maintenance of the waste water treatment solution is the responsibility of the owner of the property and it should be done by the system-specific instructions of the manufacturer. The easiest way to guarantee proper installation and maintenance is to use a professional planner, constructer and maintenance entrepreneurs.

An onsite treatment system represents a significant investment which you will want to protect. With proper operation and regular maintenance, the system will function better and last longer. Committing a little attention to the care of the system is the best way to avoid the nightmare of it failing.

Read and follow the Dos and Don'ts for trouble-free operation.

Do

  • Repair any leaking faucets or toilets.
  • Only discharge washing and toilet waters into the system.
  • Divert drain spouts and other surface water away from your treatment plant.
  • Keep your septic tank cover and/or onsite treatment system cover accessible for inspections and pumping.
  • Have your septic tank and/or on site treatment system pumped regularly and checked for leaks and cracks.
  • Follow the instructions of the system manual.
  • Call a professional when you have problems.

Don't

  • Flush sanitary napkins, tampons, disposable diapers, condoms, wipes and such products into the system.
  • Dump solvents, oils, paints, thinners, disinfectants, pesticides or poisons down the drain which can disrupt the treatment process and contaminate groundwater.
