MINWA-funded exhibition on the hydrological cycle and wastewater treatment opened in Turku, at Valonia
The exhibition is focused on promoting knowledge on the everyday choices that we can make to decrease the amount of pollution on the waterways. Research findings from MINWA-project are also presented, as well as in-depth information on wastewater treatment processes, groundwater intake and other themes related to water conservation. The significance of water conservation is beautifully presented in the photographs of the Archipelago Sea by Janne Gröning.
Both adults and children will find their own areas of interest within the exhibition. For adults and the youth an informative ensemble on water management and conservation is presented, whereas for children the theme presents itself in a more functional and active way. There is, for example, a possibility to do your own little water research in the science corner and the possibility to calculate your own water footprint.y. The aim of the exhibition is to promote information on the importance of keeping our waters clean and to make waste water treatment and water preservation easier to approach and understand for the general public.
The exhibition is open to public each week on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 12-16 and on Thursdays from 12-19 at Valonia, Vanha Suurtori 7, Turku.

A model of different activities threatening the quality of groundwaters at the exhibition.
The aims of the MINWA project are the exchange of knowledge and experience in treating waste water in sparsely populated areas, education, training and the dissemination of good practices.
Research regarding the effectiveness of different treatment systems is implemented for the duration of the 3 year project. Models for treatment systems, maintenance and service, as well as follow-up systems, are being developed in co-operation between Estonia and Finland. Research results gathered during this project are used for educational development and for the improvement of treatment systems, and they are disseminated through educational and official networks.
The total budget of the MINWA project is 1.3M Euros and it is co-financed by the Central Baltic INTERREG IV A Programme by 1M Euros.
